New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain, storm and lightning in many states on May 13, 2025. The department has predicted severe weather conditions at different places in different parts of the country.
Affected areas
According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Apart from this, extremely heavy rains may also occur at some places in Assam and Meghalaya.

Weather conditions
The department said that there is also a possibility of lightning and strong winds (speed 40-60 kmph) along with thunderstorms in these areas. Hailstorms are also expected at some places in Telangana.
Advice to take precautions
The IMD has appealed to the people to take precautions. In particular, it has been advised to avoid going out at night and take necessary precautions to avoid the danger of lightning.

The IMD official said, “We have advised people to be alert and change their schedules according to the weather conditions. Be prepared to avoid the dangers associated with heavy rain and storm.”
This warning has been issued keeping in mind the safety of the people, and the department is constantly monitoring the weather.
